Report: Briggs wants out of Chicago

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs apparently wants to be traded.

Briggs was quoted by the Chicago Tribune as saying he and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have asked the club for the opportunity to explore a deal after the team denied a request for a restructured contract.

"The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine," Briggs told the paper. "It's just how the business works. It's not going to take away from what I do on the field. I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore."

Briggs has three years left on his contract and the Tribune reports that the six-time Pro Bowl selection is due to earn $3.9 million this season, $4 million next year and $6.5 million in 2013. He signed a six-year deal in March 2008 after the club had slapped him with the franchise tag.
