ASHBURN, Va. (AP) The Washington Redskins have cut four-year starting linebacker Perry Riley and defensive lineman Stephen Paea.

Coach Jay Gruden announced the moves after practice Tuesday.

Riley lost his starting inside linebacker job to Mason Foster and was not considered a contributor on special teams. Paea became expendable when the Redskins signed veteran Cullen Jenkins on Monday.

The 28-year-old Riley missed seven games last season with a broken right foot but started each game he played for Washington since 2012. He has 455 career tackles in six season with the Redskins.

Paea, 28, appeared in 11 games and started one last season for the Redskins after four years with Chicago. He had 19 tackles and 1 + sacks last season and was outperformed by Ziggy Hood in the preseason.
