San Francisco, CA – Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto left Saturday's game against the Giants with inflammation in his left knee.
The 2010 National League MVP didn't run hard down to first base on a grounder in the fifth inning and was easily thrown out.
The Reds said he was taken out as a precaution.
Miguel Cairo replaced him in the field in the bottom of the inning.
