Detroit, MI – Henrik Zetterberg scored the winner in the 2 win over Phoenix.
In the fourth round, Zetterberg skated in on net and slowed down to fake to the backhand. As he was going to the left of Mike Smith, he reached out with his right hand on the stick and tapped the puck in.
Howard then stopped Lauri Korpikoski to give the Red Wings their 13th straight home win, one shy of the team record.
Valtteri Filppula and Johan Franzen each had a goal while Howard made 25 stops for the Red Wings, who have taken both games against Phoenix this season.
Radim Vrbata and Taylor Pyatt scored for the Coyotes, who have lost four of their last five. Smith stopped 40 shots.
