The Boston Red Sox exercised their 2016 team option on right-hander Clay Buchholz, the team announced Tuesday.
The 31-year-old went 7-7 with a 3.26 ERA in 18 starts this past season before being shut down in mid-July because of an elbow injury. He struck out 107 batters in 113 1/3 innings.
The two-time All-Star will make $13 million next season.
Buchholz has spent his entire nine-season major-league career with Boston, going 73-51 with a 3.85 ERA.
