Outfielder David DeJesus' time with the Washington Nationals was short-lived.

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired DeJesus from the Nationals on Friday in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations.

DeJesus had been acquired by Washington from the Chicago Cubs on Monday and appeared in three games for the Nationals this week.

The 33-year-old veteran hit .250 with six homers, 19 doubles and 27 RBI in 84 games with the Cubs this season.

DeJesus, who is attempting to reach the postseason for the first time, is a career .279 hitter with 254 doubles, 86 homers and 513 RBI in 1,242 games with the Royals (2003-10), Athletics (2011), Cubs (2012-13) and Nationals (2013).
