If cornerback Charles James was smart enough to use the cameras of HBO's "Hard Knocks" as a marketing tool, the strategy paid off.

James, released by the Houston Texans during Saturday's final cutdown, signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, becoming a member of their practice squad. The Ravens released tight end Konrad Reuland from the scout team to free up a spot for James.

James' wacky socks, and gap-toothed smile endeared him to "Hard Knocks' viewers this summer, but the highlight of his preseason probably came in a game against the New Orleans Saints. James, given a chance to play running back for Houston, broke off a 73-yard touchdown run, but if was unfortunately negated by a penalty.

Now that he's in Baltimore, he's already continuing his strong sock game.
