Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle has pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and avoided jail time.

Kindle also apologized Tuesday in Howard County District Court. Prosecutors recommended 30 days in jail, but the judge sentenced him to one year with all but five days suspended. He allowed the five days Kindle spent in a treatment facility to count as time served.

Kindle was pulled over in December in Savage and cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and related offenses.

His attorney, Warren Alperstein, expressed optimism that Kindle will be able to play again after the NFL lockout is over.
