If Baltimore Ravens first-round pick Breshad Perriman wants to play this season, time is of the essence.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the clock is ticking for Perriman to get back on the practice field in order to be ready to play an NFL game. The No. 26 overall pick has been sidelined since the first day of training camp with what Harbaugh called last month "one of the all-time slowest healing sprained PCLs ever."
"If he can't get out there and practice soon … I'd love to get four games out of him, just so you could see him and he could develop for four games," Harbaugh said via the team's official website. "But that means now we need four weeks of getting him ready to play four games. I haven't been told he's going to practice this week."
With the bye week now in the rear view mirror, Perriman would have to begin practicing this week in order to adhere to Harbaugh's timeline. Perriman's spot on the active roster could also be in jeopardy with the possible returns of tight end Dennis Pitta and defensive end Brent Urban.
Bottom line is that if Perriman doesn't show any signs of progress in the next couple weeks, his rookie season is likely to be a total loss.
