Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Needing to clear a roster spot to facilitate their big trade with the Sacramento Kings, the Toronto Raptors placed veteran guard D.J. Augustin on waivers Monday.

The move was made shortly before the Raptors officially acquired four players -- guard Greivis Vasquez and forwards John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes -- from the Kings in exchange for high-scoring forward Rudy Gay, center Aaron Gray and forward Quincy Acy.

Augustin, the ninth overall selection of the 2008 draft, was signed by Toronto on July 22 but spent most of this season as the club's third-string point guard behind Kyle Lowry and Dwight Buycks. In 10 games with the Raptors, the former Texas standout averaged just 2.1 points, 1.0 assists and 8.2 minutes.

The sixth-year pro has averaged 9.4 points, 3.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds over 368 career games with Charlotte, Indiana and Toronto.
