Milan, Italy – Inter Milan manager Claudio Ranieri will be facing his former team on Saturday as Inter welcomes Juventus to the San Siro.
Ranieri was in charge of Juve for two seasons before being fired in May 2009, while he went on to take over at Parma and Roma.
But the coach insists that there is no extra incentive on Saturday and appears to be treating it like any other match.
"It's going to be a normal game like any other," Ranieri said at his pre-match press conference. "The game against Juventus is worth three important points but nothing else.
"Just because it's my former club doesn't mean this encounter changes something from an emotional standpoint."
It may not be important to Ranieri from an emotional standpoint, but in the table three points would be very welcome.
Inter has claimed only two wins in eight games in Serie A and is coming off of a 1-1 draw with Atalanta on Wednesday that sees the club sitting in 16th place, two points above the relegation zone.
Juve's fortunes have been a bit better this season as the Old Lady is the only remaining unbeaten team in the league and sits atop the table.
Manager Antonio Conte saw his team secure a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in midweek and the boss will be looking to build on that result with another strong performance on Saturday.
Inter will host Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday and the club will be without goalkeeper Julio Cesar for Saturday's clash.
Lazio and Udinese trail Juve by one point with the Rome club hitting the road to face Cagliari, while Udinese hosts Palermo having won all four of its home matches this season.
AC Milan brings a three-game winning streak into its match at Roma, while fourth-place Napoli meets up with a Catania team riding a five-match unbeaten streak.
Fiorentina is winless in five games and hosts Genoa, Bologna picked up its second win of the campaign in midweek and tries to build on that result with another three points against Atalanta and Siena aims for a fourth win at home against Chievo.
Novara visits Lecce in a matchup of bottom-three sides and last-place Cesena tries to find its first win of the season when the club visits Parma.
