St. Louis, MO – Trying to win their first World Series title, the Texas Rangers have already forced St. Louis to use its bullpen.
Josh Hamilton hit an RBI single in the first inning and Ian Kinsler knocked in a run with a ground-rule double in the second, as the Rangers and Cardinals were tied 2-2 after three innings of Game 6 on Thursday night.
Texas right-hander Colby Lewis and St. Louis lefty Jaime Garcia settled down after laboring through the first couple of innings, but Garcia was already out to start the fourth, replaced by reliever Fernando Salas.
The Rangers lead the series 3-2 and are chasing their first title, while the Cardinals are trying to force a Game 7 on Friday night.
Lance Berkman, batting cleanup for the second time in the series, smacked a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.
But Kinsler knocked a ball over the wall in left to make it 2-2 in the second.
