Rangers activate Beltre, Blanco

The Texas Rangers reinstated third baseman day disabled list.

Beltre suffered a left hamstring strain while running the bases on July 22 versus Toronto. He was placed on the DL the following day.

Entering Thursday's action, Beltre was hitting .276 with 20 home runs, 29 doubles, and 76 RBI in 100 games this season.

Blanco was placed on the disabled list August 9 with lower back inflammation. He entered Thursday's game batting .206 with two home runs and two RBI in 28 games this year.

Texas also added two recently acquired players to its active roster -- catcher Matt Treanor and pitcher Michael Gonzalez.

Treanor was acquired in Wednesday's trade with Kansas City, while Gonzalez was acquired in a trade with Baltimore.

Texas purchased the contracts of infielder Esteban German and pitcher Merkin Valdez from Triple-A Round Rock.

In other moves, infielder Omar Quintanilla was outrighted to Round Rock and pitcher Pedro Strop was acquired by Baltimore on a waiver claim to complete Wednesday's trade.
