Doha, Qatar (SportsNetwork.com) - Second seed Agnieszka Radwanska eased into the semifinals, while former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic upended former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in Friday's quarterfinal action at the $2.44 million Qatar Open tennis event.
The former Wimbledon finalist Radwanska routed Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-2, 6-1, while the fifth-seeded former U.S. Open runner-up Jankovic subdued the third-seeded Kvitova 6-1, 6-3 on the hardcourts at Khalifa International Tennis Complex.
"I've had easy scores until now, but it doesn't mean I've had easy matches," Radwanska said after pasting Wickmayer. "I played great tennis, especially today, and Yanina was a tough opponent -- every time we play I have to really push myself 100 percent to beat her. I think I just played really, really good tennis out there tonight."
Jankovic's semifinal opponent on Saturday will be sixth-seeded German left- hander Angelique Kerber, who drilled Thursday's big upset winner Petra Cetkovska, 6-1, 6-0. The qualifier Cetkovska stunned top-seeded Australian Open champ Li Na in the round of 16.
Also on Friday, seventh-seeded Romanian Simona Halep upended fourth-seeded former French Open runner-up Sara Errani, of Italy, 6-2, 6-0. Halep's final- four opponent will be Radwanska.
All four of Saturday's combatants are ranked inside the WTA's top 10.
