London, England – English Premier League club QPR fired coach Neil Warnock on Sunday.
QPR has lost six of its last eight league matches, and tied third-tier MK Dons in the FA Cup on Saturday, 1-1.
Warnock, 63, led QPR back to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years this season, but the recent stretch of poor results ended his tenure.
"This decision has been made in the best interests of the club," QPR chairman Tony Fernandes said, "and I can assure everyone that this is not a decision that was made lightly."
"Sadly, our recent run of poor form has seen us slip alarmingly down the table and the board felt it was the right time to make a change."
Warnock coached QPR for just under two years. Assistant manager Mick Jones and first-team coach Keith Curle have also left the team.
"Obviously I'm very disappointed, but having achieved so much," Warnock said, "I leave the Club with a great sense of pride."
QPR is 17th in the standings ahead of its trip to Newcastle on Jan. 15.
