Dijon, France – PSG left it late at the Stade Gaston Gerard half stoppage time to 1 win over Dijon to remain first in Ligue 1.
The win was made more remarkable by the fact that PSG was reduced to 10 men in the first half after Mohamed Sissoko was issued a straight red card in the 41st minute.
Playing down a man did not seem to slow PSG down as Carlo Ancelotti's men took the lead four minutes after break thanks to Siaka Tiene.
Steven Paulle leveled the score for Dijon in the 76th minute, but Gameiro pulled PSG back in front with his 11th goal of the Ligue 1 season, sealing three vital points for his club's title aspirations.
PSG has won two straight league contests and is unbeaten in its last 12 matches in Ligue 1 play. Over that unbeaten stretch, the Parisians have dropped just eight points out of a possible 32. The club's lead atop the Ligue 1 table remains at just one point after Montpellier was able to keep pace with a 3-0 win over Caen on Sunday.
Dijon remains in the relegation zone on 27 points, losing two of its last three.
Rennes 1, Auxerre 1
Rennes, France - Auxerre and Rennes traded goals on opposite sides of halftime as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw at the Stade de la Route de Lorient on Sunday.
Dennis Oliech gave the visitors the lead after just 10 minutes, but Rennes responded in the second period as Yacine Brahimi netted in the 66th minute to see the Red-and-Blacks salvage a point.
Rennes moves into fifth place in the French top flight, tied with Toulouse on 44 points but holding the edge with a superior goal differential. Auxerre has drawn three straight, staying in the relegation zone with 24 points on the season.
Montpellier 3, Caen 0
Montpellier, France - After a scoreless first half, Montpellier exploded for three second-half goals in a 3-0 defeat of Caen at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday.
Karim Ait-Fana, Souleymane Camara, and Olivier Giroud grabbed a goal apiece to see Montpellier stay one point adrift of first-place PSG.
Caen remains one point above the relegation zone with 28 points on the season.
