Nice, France (SportsNetwork.com) - PSG picked up a 1-0 win at Nice on Friday to get its ninth successive Ligue 1 victory.
Nice had nearly opened in the scoring 11 minutes into the match when Dario Cvitanich had turned in a free kick to the back post, but the striker was flagged for being in an offside position when the ball was delivered and the goal was disallowed.
The home side managed to hang in the match until the early stages of the second half when an own goal from Thimothee Kolodzieczak granted PSG the lead.
Edinson Cavani, unable to get on the end of a flick into the penalty area, managed to apply enough pressure to the Nice defense to see Kolodzieczak turn the bouncing ball into his own net in 53rd minute.
Nice had a tremendous opportunity to equalize when it was granted a free kick at the edge of the box in the final minute of stoppage time, but PSG stood tall and denied the home side to preserve the win and get the clean sheet.
PSG, unbeaten in its last 13 league games, improves to 76 points on the season to move 13 points clear of Monaco.
Nice's three-game league unbeaten run comes to an end as the club remains on 38 points.
Monaco will attempt to keep pace at the top of the table when the second-place side travels to Evian on Saturday, and third-place Lille will hope to extend its unbeaten run in Ligue 1 play to eight games when it hosts Guingamp on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, fourth-place St. Etienne will head to the Stade Gerland for a massive meeting with Lyon and Rennes will attempt to pull further away from the relegation zone with a positive result against Bastia.
Marseille is winless in its last four league matches and will be hoping to end that run with three points at Sochaux on Saturday.
Lorient, meanwhile, has lost two straight in Ligue 1 action, a streak the club will attempt to halt on Saturday when it heads to Reims.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Nantes plays host to Bordeaux, Valenciennes heads to Montpellier and Ajaccio welcomes Toulouse to the Stade Francois-Coty.
