PSG acquired Brazilian defender Thiago Silva from AC Milan on Saturday for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of $50 million, although no official price was disclosed.

The 27-year-old Silva joins PSG on a five-year contract, ending his stay with AC Milan following three seasons. He started his career in Brazil and, after brief spells with FC Porto and Dynamo Moscow, also played at Fluminense.

Milan acquired Silva from Fluminense in 2009, and the Brazilian developed into one of the top center backs in the world with the Italian club.

Capped 27 times for Brazil, Silva is also on the country's Olympic team this summer as one of three overage players.
