Saturday's first of two rounds of practice for Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway (FS1, 11:30 a.m. ET) had a very familiar look at the top of the speed charts.

Joe Gibbs Racing has won seven of the first 14 races of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season to date, and when the practice ended at MIS, JGR drivers Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch were fastest.

Edwards posted the top lap of the session at 197.770 miles per hour, with Busch nearby at 197.737 mph. The difference between the best lap times for the two JGR teammates was just 0.006 seconds.

Pole-winner Joey Logano was third in the first of the Team Penske Fords, ahead of his quasi-teammate Ryan Blaney and the Wood Brothers Racing Ford and Brad Keselowski in the second Penske entry.

This practice was important because temperatures during this session were about what they will be during tomorrow's race.

The final Happy Hour practice is scheduled for noon ET on FS1.
