Linz, Austria (SportsNetwork.com) - Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic edged Italy's Camila Giorgi in three sets Sunday to win the Generali Ladies Linz tennis event.
The seventh-seeded Pliskova rallied from a set down for the second day in a row and fended off a match point in the third set to pull out a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win for her third career WTA title and second this year.
She had lost her first three title matches this season before finally ending the streak last month in Seoul.
Giorgi fell to 0-2 in WTA finals, with both appearances coming this year. She forced a tiebreaker in the third set after being down 1-5 and had a match point in the 12th game.
"It could have been a little easier," Pliskova said of her win, "but I'm still happy I won the title."
The 22-year-olds had met once previously, a straight-set win for Pliskova in qualifying for the Dubai tournament in February.
Pliskova earned $43,000 for Sunday's victory.
