Pirates send Tabata to DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Jose Tabata on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to a left oblique strain.

The move is retroactive to May 25. Tabata is batting .272 with a pair of homers and six RBI over 36 games with the Pirates this season.

The team also announced that it selected the contract of pitcher Mike Zagurski from Triple-A Indianapolis. To make room on the 40-man roster, Pittsburgh transferred pitcher Jeff Karstens from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Zagurski has a 2.14 earned run average with 37 strikeouts over 19 relief appearances for Indianapolis this season.

Infielder Josh Harrison was recalled from Indianapolis to replace Tabata on the 25-man active roster. Pitcher Bryan Morris was optioned to Indianapolis.
