Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies have signed pitcher Dave Bush to a minor league contract.
Bush began the season with the Texas Rangers and was 0-1 with a 5.79 earned run average in 17 games, including three starts, before being released on July 6. He then signed a minor league deal with the Cubs and made five starts at the club's Triple-A affiliate in Iowa.
The 31-year-old right-hander has a career record of 56-69 with a 4.70 ERA in 210 games, including 187 starts, for Toronto, Milwaukee and Texas in his big league career. He beat the Phillies in the 2008 NL Division Series while pitching for the Brewers.
Bush will report to Philadelphia's Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley.
