The Philadelphia Phillies activated first baseman Jim Thome from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.

Thome had been on the DL since May 2 due to a lower back injury. The left- handed slugger had just two hits in 12 games when he was placed on the disabled list.

To make room for Thome on the roster, the Phillies optioned infielder Pete Orr to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He batted .286 with five RBI in 23 games for Philadelphia this season.
