The days of Phil Jackson Field House are coming to an end.

The Williston High School gym, named after the legendary player and coach, will no longer host Coyote sporting events, thanks to a new high school and gym that will open in the fall.

On Tuesday, the school held a commemorative ceremony to mark the last time WHS varsity athletics played in the Williston, North Dakota facility.

The gym at the new high school is still being built, and and when it opens it won't be named after Jackson, according to the Williston Herald.

The field house was renamed for Jackson in 1992. The decorated NBA player and coach was a high school hoops star at Williston in the 1960's, and flourished in college at North Dakota. As a player, he won two championships with the New York Knicks. His coaching career includes 11 NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. He currently serves as the president of the Knicks.
