Luxembourg, Luxembourg (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seed Andrea Petkovic was sent packing, while second-seeded Alize Cornet and third seed Sabine Lisicki notched first-round wins at the Luxembourg Open tennis event.

France's Pauline Parmentier took out the former top-10 German Petkovic 6-4, 6-2 at CK Sports Center Kockelscheuer.

Meanwhile, the Frenchwoman Cornet defeated Czech qualifier Lucie Hradecka 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) and the German 2013 Wimbledon runner-up Lisicki took care of fading Slovak Daniela Hantuchova 7-5, 6-0 on Day 2. Lisicki was a Luxembourg runner- up in 2009, while Hantuchova was a finalist here in 2007.

Fifth-seeded American Varvara Lepchenko edged out German wild card Julia Goerges 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, while another upset occurred when Swedish qualifier Johanna Larsson topped seventh-seeded Belgian Kirsten Flipkens 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. Goerges was a runner-up here in 2010.

Also advancing on Tuesday were Slovenian Polona Hercog, Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck, Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens, Czech qualifier Denisa Allertova, and German Annika Beck, who was last year's runner-up here to former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. Beck dismissed 2009 champ Timea Bacsinszky, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, on Tuesday.

The 2014 Luxembourg titlist will collect $43,000.
