Person with knowledge of the decision tells AP Bucks hiring former Hawks coach Larry Drew

A person with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press the Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement with former Atlanta Hawks coach Larry Drew to hire him as their new coach.

The two sides agreed in principle on a deal on Friday. The person requested anonymity because the decision has not been officially announced.

Drew will replace Jim Boylan, who stepped in after the Bucks and Scott Skiles parted ways Jan. 8.

Drew was 128-102 in Atlanta, and the Hawks reached the postseason in each of his three seasons. But general manager Danny Ferry, who inherited Drew when he took over last year, opted to let the coach go after the season as he continues his overhaul of the Hawks.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported the agreement.
