Villarreal, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Jeremy Perbet netted a second-half brace on Monday to lead Villarreal to a 3-1 victory over Osasuna at the Estadio El Madrigal.
Villarreal went into Monday's contest needing to get back to winning ways after sustaining a 1-0 loss to Valladolid last time out. But the hosts were unable to find the back of the net during a scoreless first half.
The second 45 minutes was a different story, however, and Villarreal struck first in the 46th minute when Perbet fired one home following a pass from Chechu Dorado.
Villarreal made it 2-0 in the 55th minute through a goal by Manu Trigueros before Perbet completed his double 15 minutes from time as he ran onto a through ball from Jonathan Pereira and slotted one into the bottom right corner.
Osasuna pulled one back through Oriol Magem three minutes from time, but it wasn't enough as Villarreal came away with all three points.
The result sees Villarreal improve to 40 points, but the club remains in fifth place in La Liga, three behind Athletic Bilbao for the final Champions League place.
Osasuna, meanwhile, stays in 16th place with 22 points, two clear of the relegation zone.
