Penn State standout Carl Nassib, the player who had more sacks than anyone else in the FBS this season, has been named the best player at his position in FBS this season.

Nassib is the first Nittany Lion to win the Ted Hendricks Award, which goes to the top defensive end in the country.

He earned the honor by notching 15.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. He also forced six fumbles.

The sacks and forced fumbles totals are the best in the country and his TFL total is No. 2.

Nassib broke the PSU single-season record for sacks (15 by Larry Kubin and Michael Haynes).

"To receive this award is an amazing accomplishment and honor that I will always remember," Nassib said in a statement. "I'm thankful for my family, friends, coaches and teammates for helping me strive to be my best. I could not have done it without them."
