New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson is expected to miss between 1-to-3 weeks after recently sustaining a chip fracture in the second toe of his right foot, the team announced Wednesday.

Anderson, one of the NBA's top 3-point shooters and New Orleans' second- leading scorer last season, received the diagnosis Wednesday after having been complaining of discomfort in his foot during practices.

The five-year NBA veteran averaged a career-best 16.2 points and shot 38.2 percent from beyond the arc last season, his first with the Pelicans after being acquired in a sign-and-trade deal with Orlando. Anderson earned the NBA's Most Improved Player award while with the Magic the previous season.

New Orleans will tip off its 2013-14 campaign, the franchise's first under the new Pelicans moniker, Wednesday against Indiana.
