The Patriots masterfully trolled the Jets with this one. Joe Camporeale USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots aren't typically ones to talk trash about their upcoming opponents, but when the New York Jets come to town, things change.

The Jets will pay a visit to Tom Brady and the Patriots this Sunday in Foxboro, their first meeting of the season. Being in the AFC East, the two teams are bitter rivals, and with first place in the AFC East at stake, anything goes.

The Patriots opened the floodgates for trash talk by sharing this hilarious post on Twitter for "Throwback Thursday," or #TBT. Yes, that's Mark Sanchez and the infamous "Butt Fumble," with the caption, "This seems relevant."

That's some serious shade being thrown by the Patriots. It's safe to bet the Jets' social media team is vigorously digging through the archives for an equally-embarrassing photo as this one -- though they're not likely to find one that rivals this one.

In light of this brilliant troll, the Patriots probably have a post scheduled for the next time they take on the Colts. Fake punt, anyone?
