Paterno diagnosed with lung cancer

Former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno has reportedly been diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer.

According to the Patriot-News, Paterno was diagnosed last Saturday, when he was hospitalized during the Penn State-Nebraska game.

Paterno, 84, was not coaching in that game because he was fired three days earlier in the wake of the child sex abuse case surrounding former Nittany Lions assistant Jerry Sandusky. Paterno has 409 career victories as Penn State head coach, the most in Division I history.
