Former Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt has been released from a Knoxville hospital after completing what her foundation described as "a round of routine tests."

Pat Summitt Foundation director Patrick Wade issued a statement Wednesday saying, "Pat would like to assure everyone that she is feeling fine and is happy to be returning to her normal schedule." Wade added that Summitt and her son, Tyler, "expressed their appreciation for all the good wishes they have received."

The foundation said Tuesday that Summitt entered the hospital late Sunday and was expected to be released Tuesday afternoon. Wade said Summitt left the hospital on Wednesday.

Summitt stepped down as Tennessee's coach in April 2012 after announcing a year earlier she had early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type.
