Pittsburgh Steelers special teams coach Danny Smith hopes by losing his voice his players can find their identity.

Smith jokes he's already hoarse less than two weeks into his first training camp with the Steelers. Pittsburgh hired Smith in the offseason after he spent nearly a decade in the same position with the Washington Redskins.

The 59-year-old Smith says he loves his job because it allows him to work with just about every player on the team. He is pleased by the work ethic he's seen early on in camp but is eager to see how it will translate in a game.

The Steelers open the preseason at home on Saturday against the New York Giants. Pittsburgh has several battles to settle on special teams, particularly at punter and punt returner.
