Charlotte, NC – The Carolina Panthers have signed safety year contract extension.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Godfrey has been a starter since his rookie season of 2008, when the club selected him in the third round of the draft out of Iowa. He was the first rookie in team history to start all 16 games of a season at safety.
In 16 games at strong safety last season, the 25-year-old Texas native led the Panthers with five interceptions and added a career-high 84 tackles. He has seven career picks to go along with six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
