The Green Bay Packers have placed defensive tackle Josh Boyd on injured reserve and signed linebacker Joe Thomas to replace him on the 53-man roster.

The team announced the moves Monday afternoon.

Boyd injured his ankle in the third quarter of the Packers' win over the Seahawks on Sunday night. Boyd, a 2013 fifth-round pick, had one tackle in Week 1 against the Bears.

Thomas (6-foot-1, 227 pounds) was originally signed by Green Bay in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State. He spent part of that season on the team's practice squad. After training camp and the preseason this year, Thomas was part of the roster cut-down and was released on Sept. 5.

He spent the first two weeks of the 2015 season on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.
