Orioles sign Peguero

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles have signed outfielder Francisco Peguero to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Peguero appeared in 18 games for the San Francisco Giants last year and batted .207 with his first big league home run. He has a .200 average over 35 big league games in two seasons with the Giants.

The 25-year-old Dominican native is a career .306 hitter in 690 minor league games over eight seasons.
