Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles have signed veteran infielder Alex Gonzalez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to MLB.com.

Gonzalez spent the past two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, appearing in 65 games during that span and hitting .211 with five home runs and 23 RBI.

Although Gonzalez played exclusively at shortstop in his first 14 seasons, he made 16 starts at first base and nine at third base for the Brewers in 2013.

Gonzalez, who turns 37 in February, has played in 1,600 games with Florida, Boston, Cincinnati, Toronto, Atlanta and Milwaukee. The Venezuela native has a career .246 batting average with 157 homers and 688 RBI.
