Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring injury.

Roberts was hurt in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against Tampa Bay while sliding head-first into second during a stolen base. He was unable to put weight on his leg and had to be helped off the field.

The Orioles termed the injury a right hamstring strain, but the Baltimore Sun has reported it to be a ruptured tendon behind the right knee. Surgery won't be necessary and the two-time All-Star is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks.

Roberts was 5-for-12 with an RBI in the first three games of the season. The oft-injured 35-year-old veteran has not played a full season since 2009. He played just 17 games in 2012, 39 in 2011 and 59 in 2010 because of various injuries.

The Orioles recalled infielder Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Norfolk to fill the roster spot.
