UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Christian Ehrhoff's time with the New York Islanders was brief.
The club dealt the pending unrestricted free agent defenceman's negotiating rights to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday, just a day after acquiring the German from the Vancouver Canucks.
The Islanders receive a 2012 fourth-round pick from the Sabres for the blue-liner, who now own Ehrhoff's exclusive negotiating rights until free agency begins Friday.
The Islanders sent a fourth-round pick next year to the Canucks for Ehrhoff's rights on Tuesday.
Ehrhoff had 14 goals, 36 assists and a plus-19 rating in 79 games with Vancouver last season. He added two goals and 10 assists during the Canucks' run to the Stanley Cup finals, but was a minus-13 in the post-season.
