Freshman Lamar Kearse came off the bench to score a career-high 22 points and New Jersey Institute of Technology cruised to a 79-60 win over Texas-Pan American on Wednesday night in the Great West Conference opener for both teams.

The win marked the first time this season the Highlanders (4-10) have won two games in a row. NJIT defeated Division III Marywood on Jan. 8.

Kearse scored 15 first-half points, including three 3-pointers, as the Highlanders led 41-29 at the break.

The Broncs (3-15), who have lost nine games in a row, closed to 48-39 with 16:27 left, but NJIT went on a 9-0 run, with Isaiah Wilkerson scoring five of his 17 points.

The Highlanders scored 35 points off 24 Texas-Pan American turnovers.

Both teams shot 56.8 percent from the field, with NJIT 25 of 44 and the Broncs 21 of 37.

Brandon Provost led Texas-Pan American with 15 points.
