Pasay City, Philippines – Donnie Nietes earned a 12-round unanimous decision over Felipe Salguero on Saturday to take the WBO Junior Flyweight belt.
In front of a friendly crowd cheering on its countryman, Nietes (30-1-3) captured the victory over the Mexican Salguero (16-3-1).
Nietes, 30, has won 17 straight bouts since a draw in July of 2005 against Nino Suelo.
