Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium made nine birdies on a soft course at Lake Malaren for an 8-under 64 and a one-shot lead over Alexander Levy of France going into the weekend of the BMW Masters.

Colsaerts has gone 75 tournaments worldwide since his last victory in 2012 at the Volvo World Match Play Championship. He again took advantage of the par 5s on an overcast day Friday. He made birdie on all four of them Friday, and is 9 under on the par 5s for the week.

Colsaerts was at 14-under 130.

Levy tried to keep pace with two birdies in the middle of his back nine. He shot a 66.

The BMW Masters is the first of four "Finals Series" events that conclude the European Tour season.
