LANDOVER, Md. (AP) The NFL says it expects to hold the Washington Redskins' game against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles as scheduled at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday because the weather is not supposed to be as bad as once feared.

The league says in a statement Friday that the office of the governor of Maryland ''has assured us that based on the current forecast, playing the game would have no adverse effect on public safety.''

The statement adds that the NFL ''will continue to monitor the storm ... and be prepared to adjust the schedule if necessary, should the forecast change.''
