New York Giants rookie safety Chad Jones was in critical condition in a New Orleans hospital following a car accident Friday morning, WWL-TV reported.
Jones, 21, suffered a fractured left leg that exposed arteries and nerves, and doctors were attempting to get blood flowing back into his foot, officials said. He was reportedly in surgery at 10:15am local time.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:15am local time Friday morning, WWL-TV reported.
Jones was the Giants’ third-round 2010 NFL draft pick and recently signed a four-year deal worth a reported $2.616 million guaranteed.
Jones earned national titles with Louisiana State University in football in 2007 and baseball in 2009.
