FRISCO, Texas (STATS) - All-America left tackle Joe Haeg isn't necessarily done blocking for quarterback Carson Wentz even though they played their final game for North Dakota State on Saturday - a 37-10 win over Jacksonville State in the FCS Championship.
Haeg learned on Friday that he has been invited to the 67th Senior Bowl, to be played Jan. 30 in Mobile, Alabama.
"Well deserved," NDSU coach Chris Klieman said. "Joe's a dynamite player for us."
Wentz was in the first group of players with invitations. He returned Saturday from an eight-game absence (broken throwing wrist) to win the title game's Most Outstanding Player award for the second consecutive year.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Haeg was a two-time first-team All-American and this season he was the only offensive lineman to be a finalist for STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year.
He also is scheduled to play in the East-West Shrine Game Jan. 23 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Other FCS players previously announced as commitments to the Senior Bowl: cornerbacks James Bradberry of Samford, Deiondre' Hall of Northern Iowa and Harlan Miller of Southeastern Louisiana, safeties DeAndre Houston-Carson of William & Mary and Miles Killebrew of Southern Utah, Harvard offensive tackle Cole Toner, Eastern Kentucky defensive end Noah Spence and Wentz.
