Washington, DC – The Washington Nationals activated outfielder Jayson Werth from the 60-day disabled list and placed reliever Henry Rodriguez on the 15-day DL Thursday with a low back strain.
Werth had been sidelined since breaking his left wrist against the Philadelphia Phillies, his former club, on May 6. He underwent surgery the next day.
Prior to landing on the DL, Werth was batting .276 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games.
Rodriguez has made 35 appearances for the Nationals this season, going 1-3 with nine saves and a 5.83 earned run average.
