Viera, FL – The Washington Nationals have signed outfielder Xavier Nady to a minor league contract.
Nady hit .248 with four homers and 35 RBI in 82 games for Arizona last season.
In 880 career games with the Padres, Mets, Pirates, Yankees, Cubs and Diamondbacks, Nady has a .275 average with 97 home runs and 393 RBI.
The Nationals also announced that outfielder Michael Morse (back) and first baseman Adam LaRoche (foot) are out of action for a week.
