Murray ousted in Cali desert

Indian Wells, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Wimbledon champion Andy Murray suffered a fourth-round upset Wednesday at the BNP Paribas Open.

Tenth-seeded Canadian slugger Milos Raonic fought back to best the fifth- seeded British star, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, in 2 hours, 9 minutes on the hardcourts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The big-serving Raonic ripped 15 aces before moving on and improving to 3-1 lifetime against Murray, who struggles with the Canadian's serve.

Raonic broke Murray in the second set to level the match, and wound up winning five of the last six games in the third set to prevail.

Murray, who has failed to reach a final in his first five tournaments this year, was a runner-up at this ATP Masters 1000 event in 2009.

Up next for Raonic will be 28th-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, who vanquished 13th-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini 6-2, 6-4 in 76 minutes to reach the quarterfinals in the California desert.

Dolgopolov stunned world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the third round here on Monday, this after finishing as a runner-up to Nadal in Rio de Janeiro three weeks ago.
