Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta signed a one-year contract extension on Friday, keeping him with the French champions until 2016.

"We are very proud to extend Thiago Motta's stay at the club. He is an exceptional player on the pitch and an elegant man off it. He symbolizes Paris Saint-Germain's great ambitions," the club said on its official website.

Motta, 31, joined PSG from Inter Milan for 10 million euros in 2012 and has made 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season. He has made 65 appearances with two goals during his time in France.

The Italy international played 90 minutes in Tuesday night's 4-0 destruction of German side Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League round-of-16.

"I am very happy to continue following my dreams with Paris Saint-Germain. I want to help the club reach their ambitious goals, both in France and in Europe," said Motta.
