Christian Moon scored a career-high 24 points and Montana State defeated Southern Utah 76-68 Monday night.

Xavier Blount scored 13 and Paul Egwuonwu scored 10 for the Bobcats (7-9, 4-4 Big Sky), who had lost their previous two games after a four-game winning streak.

Montana State never trailed in the game but Southern Utah came within two points in the final 2 minutes.

Damon Heuir scored 20 points to lead the Thunderbirds (5-12, 3-5), who have lost five in a row. Jackson Stevenett added 19 points and Jayson Cheesman had 13 points and eight rebounds for Southern Utah, which played without center Jaren Jeffery, sidelined by an illness.

It was the first meeting between the teams since 1997. Southern Utah is in its first season in the Big Sky Conference.
